Data Casting with Center Stage Live
Logo and Static Message Scheduling
A new scheduling function has been added
to CSScheduler providing the tools necessary to day part station logos
and/or Static Messages. Station Logos and Static Messages are processed
differently than other logos and messages in that they become the
default item used when Now Playing information is not available. Using
the Logo and Static Message scheduling window we can select a graphic,
associate a message and if necessary, mark the entry for verification.
We then enter the schedule by station, date, time of day and day of
Once updated, CSRDS will monitor the
entries and use the scheduled logo and static message during the
schedule period. Events marks for Verificaiton will be logged each time
they are posted. With the addition of the Inovonics 633/632 to feed the
over the air data back to CSRDS the item will be confirmed as a
For Example, a sponsored program may show
a static message like "The Classic Rock Hour Sponsored by Pizza Palace"
while the logo shows the Pizza Palace logo.
Static Radio Text
In addition to using Scheduled Logos and
Static messages a new "Static Radio Text" option has been added to the
CSRDS configuration options. As more FM RDS receivers come to the market
with a bigger display showing both the 64 Character Radio Text and the 8
Character scrolling PS showing the same information is a little
redundant. CSRDS has always had the ability to lock the 8 Character PS
to a specific message as a Static PS setting. Now with scheduled Logos
and Static messages we have added the ability to lock the static message
in the 64 character radio text area while scrolling now playing
information in the 8 character Dynamic PS area.
For Example, during the Tucker and
TAZ morning show the Static message may show "Tucker and Taz Live on
PALM-FM", the logo may show a picture or Tucker and Taz while the PS
information displays the now playing information.
Expanded Capture Events Log
Due to the number of different Now
Playing formats supported in CSRDS as well as the various methods for
categorizing events the CSRDS Event Viewer Captured Log has been
expanded to display more information. Depending on the amount and format
of the now playing data the number of events will include the last 25 to
Additional XML Tags
The CSPostIt Web Upload module has been
update to include additional tags providing URL Links to a Logo, special
artwork and/or a media file. These items are entered in CSScheduler
using the Web Updates option in the Access Control section of the tolls
menu. When selected, individual items may be schedule for on-air use in
the CSLive copy prompters, updated to a specific web page or both. Those
selected for a web update will be included in a page specific XML file
and uploaded to the station web site where the web developers can add
the content to the stations various web pages.
CSLink, the Center Stage Live Protocol
converter that captures data in one protocol (Serial, IP, File) and
sends it out using another protocol (Serial, IP, File) now has the
option to delay the write to a file. In some cases we have seen IP
information coming in bursts and the delay allows CSLink to put the
pieces together and create a complete file that can be used in other
applications such as CSRDS.
The Datacasting Simulator was modified to
simulate the Static Radio Text messages posted by CSRDS
CSWeather now supports a link to the
Beethoven Satellite Network. CSWeather will download the BSN playlist
and send it to CSRAS where individual events will be sent to CSRDS based
on the playlist schedule. If desired, this information will be captured
by one instance of CSRDS and posted to the CSRDS audit file where it can
be used for time shifting to another date and/or time.
